About the Cottage
Just over the Aerial Lift Bridge and three miles from Canal Park, the Cottage is located on Park Point, a 7-mile peninsula that separates Lake Superior from Superior Bay. With water all around you, there’s no excuse not to get out and enjoy the lake during your stay. Launch your boat or personal watercraft at the end of the Point, charter a Lake Superior fishing trip, or enjoy the use of the Cottage’s kayaks or canoe. Walk the beach or head to the end of the point for soccer fields, sand volleyball courts, baseball fields or enjoy a hike through an old-growth forest.

There's something for everyone in Canal Park—from shopping to fine dining as well as taking in all the activity of the working harbor. You can watch the ocean-going vessels travel through the canal and under the Bridge as they head into port or out to sea. Walk, bike or Rollerblade the Lakewalk, explore the Great Lakes Aquarium, catch a live show at the DECC (Duluth Entertainment and Convention Center), or a film at the Omnimax Theater or the Duluth 10, a 10-screen movie theater.

The Cottage on the Point in Print

If you like psychological suspense novels check into books by award-winning author Brian Freeman. The Cottage on the Point is featured in Stalked, Freeman's new novel that arrived in bookstores in January 2008. Freeman’s books, Immoral and Stripped, feature police officers Jonathan Stride and Serena Dial. In his third novel in this series, Stride returns to Duluth with Serena, and the acknowledgments to the book begin:

Much of this novel was conceived and researched in a rental cottage on Park Point in Duluth that bears suspicious similarity to the home now owned by Stride and Serena. You can actually stay there yourself, or you can tour the home at www.cottageonthepoint.com. Many thanks to Pat Burns for her hospitality.
